A domain name is a chain of characters associated with an extension such as .com or .fr. It is usually made up of a familiar name – such as the name of a business – and is used as an IP address.

Pursuant to Article L.711-4 of the Intellectual Property Code, a domain name can be used as proof in submitting a prior claim against the registration of a trademark.
